About

Experience

As a graduate of Harvard, I am comfortable and familiar with the highest academic standards, and I have extensive experience tutoring students from New York’s most competitive schools. I began by working for three of the area’s top tutoring agencies, and incorporated the best of their techniques into my own approach. I have been tutoring independently in Manhattan since 2004, and my craft has been refined through years of experience with hundreds of students. Having tutored for standardized tests for over a decade, I believe that my knowledge of these tests and my ability to raise test scores are unmatched.

Dedication

As a full-time tutor, I put a great deal of thought and effort into designing a program for each student that will yield the maximum results within the given time frame. Every lesson is carefully planned to address the needs and aptitudes of the individual student. Unlike many other tutors for whom tutoring is a sideline, tutoring is my career, and I devote myself fully to the challenge of educating my students and raising their test scores.

Approach

In helping students to prepare for standardized tests, I teach all of the relevant content as well as the most effective test-taking techniques and strategies. I am also keenly aware of students' varying levels of motivation, self-confidence, and anxiety, and I structure the test-prep process in a way that accounts for these psychological factors and positions each student to do his or her best on the day of the test. I pride myself on forging a positive, friendly relationship with each student. I also have extensive experience working with children with learning disabilities. My ultimate goal is not only to help students achieve test scores which they can be proud of, but also to show them that consistent effort will lead to improvement in any endeavor, whether or not it comes naturally to them.
